On 28 April 2026, JSC ‘KOMINBANK’ signed a letter of intent stating the bank’s intention to join the WE Finance Code in Ukraine.
Signatories undertake a voluntary commitment to act in a coordinated manner, improving
approaches to supporting and financing women-led businesses in order to promote their growth and contribution to economic development and sustainability.
The main objective of the WE Finance Code is to expand access to finance for women entrepreneurs.
The initiative is being implemented with the support of the National Bank of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The WE Finance Code is a global multi-stakeholder initiative being implemented in more
than 30 countries worldwide. It brings together financial service providers, regulators and other ecosystem participants around a shared commitment: to expand access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises led by women.
The issue is particularly relevant for Ukraine, which is currently operating and developing businesses in a war-torn environment. Data shows that it is women entrepreneurs who are now becoming a significant force for the state:
- 61% of new sole traders are women,
- 34% of companies are led by women.
The WE Finance Code motivates companies in three key areas:
1) leadership — appointing responsible individuals within financial institutions,
2) data — collecting and reporting gender-disaggregated data,
3) action — creating new financial and non-financial products for women.
The Bank’s team is honoured to continue this joint journey, as women’s entrepreneurship - a resource for the country’s resilience in times of challenge!
