On 17 March, Ukraine launched Global Money Week 2025, an international financial literacy campaign for children and young people.
The National Bank of Ukraine is the official coordinator of this initiative in Ukraine for the eleventh time.
The key theme of this year's campaign is ‘Choose reliable financial information, take care of your financial future’ (‘Think before you follow, wise money tomorrow’). It emphasises the importance of critical thinking in financial matters, the ability to analyse information and make informed financial decisions.
‘Ukrainian youth is growing up in an extremely challenging environment where economic risks and fraudulent schemes are changing rapidly. That is why it is crucial to teach children and teenagers the key principles of financial literacy so that they can recognise fakes, check information sources and take responsibility for their own financial decisions. We believe that through initiatives such as Global Money Week, we can help young people become financially independent, conscious citizens capable of building a successful future for themselves and their country,’ said Andriy Pyshnyi, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.
With digital risks and information flow on the rise, this topic is particularly relevant for the younger generation of Ukrainians. Therefore, it is important to teach children and young people the basics of competent money management, to recognise emotional triggers when buying goods or services, and to critically evaluate sources of financial advice. Financial literacy training will enable them to better navigate financial services, resist fraud and manipulative information on social media, and distinguish between biased and harmful advice.
This year, Global Money Week in Ukraine will last for two weeks - from 17 to 30 March 2025.
All educational activities for children and young people during Global Money Week 2025 are free of charge.
